Chancellor of the Grand Priory awarded Austrian Decoration
During the April investiture of the Grand Priory of the Mediterranean, the Corps San Lazare International based in Austria formally joined the United Grand Priories of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem. The CSLI was represented by a delegation headed by Senator Wolfgang Steinhardt, who was also presented the Order of Merit of the Order in the rank of Commander of Merit by the Chancellor of the Grand Priory of the Mediterranean, Chev. Massimo Ellul GCLJ GCMLJ.
The Federal Commander in Chief of the CSLI presented the Grand Priory with a superb banner to be used in the Order’s gatherings in the Mediterranean. Additionally, in an emotional speech given on the occasion, Senator Wolfgang Steinhardt addressed the Chancellor of our Grand Priory thus:
“Excellency, as a visible indication of our appreciation and our confidence, I now have the honour, in the name of the entire executive committee, all officers, non commissioned officers and members of the Corps of San Lazare International to offer herewith in humility and high respect the insignia of ‘Grand Commander of the Cross of Merit of the CSLI’ into your hands as a memory of this day.”
This is the highest rank of merit bestowed on any member by the Corps San Lazare International and is a merited award for the continuous service to the Order which our Chancellor, who was also elected as the Grand Chancellor of the United Grand Priories of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus, will be using in his regalia of office.
