Suspension of the Grand Commandery of Greece (August 2008)
By decree of the Knights in Council of the Grand Priory of the Mediterranean, the Grand Commandery of Greece has been suspended due to the findings of a number of anomalies and irregularities by certain officers of this establishment. The active Lazarite Hospitallers in Greece are now being administrated by means of the officially sanctioned Delegation of Greece to the Grand Priory of the Mediterranean.
The Delegation of Greece is presently working in collaboration with the Grand Priory so as to expand its membership base and to ensure that membership is only offered to righteous postulants who seek admission to the Order so as to assist and work in philanthropic and hospice – related operations.
Moreover, it is pertinent to point out that the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus does not approve of its members joining illegitimate and bogus so-called ‘chivalric orders’, especially when simultaneously carrying out office in the administration of the Order of Saint Lazarus.
